Complex problems. Straightforward solutions.
I’m a software developer with a career that has taken me from COBOL and IBM mainframes to Drupal, Laravel, and modern enterprise systems. Working across such different generations of technology has given me a strong understanding of how software evolves and how the underlying principles of good development remain surprisingly consistent. I enjoy digging into complex systems, understanding how the pieces fit together, and finding straightforward solutions to problems that aren’t always straightforward.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in Agile environments where requirements and priorities can change quickly. I’m comfortable moving between different technologies, systems, and teams, whether that means working with an established legacy platform or building and maintaining modern web applications. I value well-thought-out solutions, clear communication, and code that remains understandable and maintainable long after the initial problem has been solved.
I’m equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team, and I enjoy taking ownership of problems from the initial idea or requirement through to a working solution. For me, good software development is about more than writing code. It’s about understanding why something needs to be built, how it fits into the larger system, and making sensible technical decisions along the way.
